About Big Lots is an American discount and closeout retail chain originally founded in 1967 and headquartered at 4900 E Dublin Granville Road in Columbus, Ohio. The brand went through bankruptcy in 2024, and although Big Lots initially moved toward a full shutdown, its operations were later revived under new ownership. In 2025, Variety Wholesalers reopened 219 Big Lots stores in phases after acquiring store assets through Gordon Brothers Retail Partners. Big Lots is no longer a publicly traded standalone retailer, and online ordering was discontinued as of January 1, 2025.
