About

Sam’s Club — operating legally as Sam’s West, Inc. — is a membership-only warehouse club retail chain and a wholly owned division of Walmart Inc. (NYSE: WMT). It is headquartered at 2101 SE Simple Savings Drive, Bentonville, Arkansas 72712 — located in the same northwest Arkansas home city as its parent company Walmart, roughly a mile from Walmart’s own global headquarters. As of fiscal year 2025 (ending January 31, 2025), Sam’s Club generated $90.2 billion in total revenue, operates 600 clubs across the United States and Puerto Rico, and competes directly with Costco Wholesale and BJ’s Wholesale Club in the members-only warehouse retail segment. All corporate governance, capital allocation, and strategic direction flows through Walmart Inc.’s executive team and Board of Directors. Sam’s Club’s new President and CEO, Latriece Watkins, assumed her role on February 1, 2026, becoming the first African American woman to lead the club and the fifth CEO in Sam’s Club history.

Executive Leadership

Latriece Watkins — President & CEO, Sam’s Club (since February 1, 2026)

Watkins is the current President and CEO of Sam’s Club, the most powerful role in membership warehouse retail outside of Costco’s CEO. She assumed the role on February 1, 2026 — becoming the first African American woman to lead the club and only the fifth CEO in Sam’s Club’s 43-year history. Her appointment was announced January 16, 2026 by incoming Walmart Inc. President and CEO John Furner as part of a broad leadership restructuring designed to position Walmart for what Furner calls “a new era of retail” anchored in AI-powered operations and “People Led, Tech Powered” strategy. Watkins is a native of McGehee, Arkansas, who began her career as a Walmart intern in 1997 — making her Walmart journey nearly 30 years long. Before becoming Sam’s Club CEO, she served as Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer for Walmart U.S. from May 2023 to February 2026, where she led all merchandising and manufacturing teams responsible for Walmart’s US store product assortment strategy. She also held prior roles in Sam’s Club operations, human resources, and US store operations leadership. She was inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame in 2025. She takes the helm of a business generating $90 billion in annual revenue, with a mandate to compete more aggressively with Costco, double Sam’s Club’s sales and profits within 8–10 years, open 15 new clubs per year, and remodel all 600 existing clubs. Her merchandising background will likely drive continued expansion of Sam’s Club’s private label (Member’s Mark), which generates approximately one-third of Sam’s Club’s revenue. She also inherits a powerful technology-forward innovation agenda that includes AI-powered checkout and scan-and-go technology expansion.

Chris Nicholas — Former President & CEO, Sam’s Club (2021–January 2026; now President & CEO, Walmart International)

Nicholas led Sam’s Club through one of its most dynamic growth periods, overseeing the chain’s rise from $73.6 billion to $90.2 billion in annual revenue in three years. He unveiled Sam’s Club’s landmark growth strategy at the April 2025 Investment Community Meeting — a plan to open 30 new clubs immediately, build a pipeline of 15 new clubs per year, remodel all 600 existing clubs, and double Sam’s Club’s sales and profits within 8–10 years with an estimated $90 billion investment. He pioneered Sam’s Club’s technology-first approach, including scan-and-go checkout, AI-powered product identification at exit, and expansion of the Sam’s Club app into a central member experience platform. He moved to President & CEO of Walmart International as part of Walmart’s January 2026 leadership reorganization.
