The current 200 Vesey Street headquarters is a 51-story, 1.5 million sq ft tower within the Brookfield Place complex overlooking New York Harbor, the Hudson River, and the Statue of Liberty. Amex has occupied the building since 1986 and it remains the company’s registered principal executive office. The future headquarters at 2 World Trade Center will be a 55-floor, nearly 2 million sq ft building designed by the global architecture firm Foster + Partners, featuring over an acre of outdoor terraces and gardens. It will pursue LEED certification, operate fully electric systems, and is designed with capacity for 10,000 colleagues. Construction begins spring 2026; completion expected 2031.
