About
Speedway LLC is an American convenience store and fuel station chain headquartered at 500 Speedway Drive, Enon, Ohio 45323 — a small unincorporated community in Clark County, located roughly 20 miles east of Dayton. The company has maintained its presence at this Enon campus for more than 30 years. Speedway operates approximately 3,500+ locations across 36 states, with its highest concentration in the Midwest, East Coast, and Southwestern United States. As of May 14, 2021, Speedway is a wholly owned subsidiary of 7-Eleven, Inc., headquartered in Irving, Texas — which is itself owned by Japanese retail conglomerate Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd. (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 3382). 7-Eleven acquired Speedway from Marathon Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: MPC) in the largest convenience store transaction in industry history, valued at approximately $21 billion. Prior to the acquisition, Speedway had operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum since 2011 and traces its origins back to 1959 when Marathon Oil Company opened its first convenience stores. At its peak before the acquisition, Speedway was the second-largest company-owned and operated convenience store chain in the US with approximately 3,900 locations across 36 states and more than 36,500 employees.
Critical ownership context: Many directories, including the source site, list Speedway as if it were an independent company. Since May 14, 2021, Speedway LLC has been a subsidiary of 7-Eleven, Inc. and its ultimate parent Seven & i Holdings. The Enon, Ohio corporate campus — including its $48 million expanded HQ — continues to operate as Speedway’s operational base under 7-Eleven’s ownership, but Speedway no longer has an independent executive leadership team. Brand-level decisions and corporate governance are made through 7-Eleven’s Irving, Texas headquarters.

The Enon, Ohio campus is a multi-building corporate complex that Speedway has occupied for more than 30 years. In 2018–2020, Speedway invested $48 million in a 140,000 sq ft headquarters expansion that connected three buildings on the campus, housing departments including Purchasing, Construction & Engineering, Environmental & Safety, Financial Accounting, Treasury, and Credit Card Group. Following the 2021 acquisition by 7-Eleven, nearly 900 Speedway support center and field support positions were eliminated as 7-Eleven integrated Speedway’s operations into its own corporate structure. The campus continues to serve as Speedway’s operational base.
